As business owners we have issues and we know that by default some things happen and some things don’t happen.

We can complain but as long as we are not involved I believe that we have no right to complain and criticise. The Simon’s Town Civic Association say that Simon’s Town businesses are not involved. And they want us to attend their meetings. This makes sense.

And I want to propose an idea. An idea that we discussed at this mornings business to business meeting.

Here are a few points that can help us get our minds around the business involvement into Simon’s Town issues.

  1. One of us attend the Simon’s Town Civic association meeting once a month. I don’t mind attending all these meetings but if there are business people who also want to attend then please leave a comment.
  2. I propose that the Simon’s Town Business Association meets once a quarter.
  3. As proposed, we share and discuss issues of mutual concern at an online forum. I have created such an online forum and you can go there by clicking here.
  4. The person who attends the Civic Meeting takes the issues reported at the online forum to the Civic meeting. And when done report back to all at the online forum.
  5. If you agree to the above and want to  stay on top of new issues reported then subscribe here.

Let’s kick start this and get the forum going.

The Simon’s Town business to business meeting was held this morning and great ideas were shared. Thanks for being there and making the meeting a great occasion.

  • Megan from Cape Point School of English told us about the range of products she offers. From cultural immersion to general English, even English and adventure.
  • Shelly from Art In Framing and her husband Eric are going from strength to strength. They have employed a professional framer and it seems that Eric is also more creative. They are also in the process of opening an Art Gallery. If you know any great artists make contact with Shelly at tel: 0217865952
  • Bev from Fragrance Of Flowers entertained us with her passionate approach to all things good. Flowers and people getting married. It’s always a good time to buy flowers and arrange an event with the help of Bev. Get hold of here at tel: 0823765099
  • Elmarie started a Holiday Home Management Company called LocalEye.co.za. If you know of any swallows or holiday home owners in need of a reliable person to do regular checks on their empty homes or any out of towners who would like to run their homes as self catering units contact Elmarie at 082 955 6464. Or send them to www.LocalEye.co.za
  • Anita from Creative Marketing is our local Simon’s Town and surrounds creative marketer. This morning she shared with us a Community Calendar distributed to businesses and people who frequent these local businesses. Contact Anita tel: 0824670660

  • Anita from First Aid Solutions showed a range of compact First Aids Kits for home, business and industrial uses. All well priced. But price is not the issue when we’re faced with an emergency. Kits are available at the Simon’s Town surgery or phone 021 7861697
  • How’s your business’s admin? You can fork all your admin tasks like filing out to the CCD Group. Basically they can do all your office admin and more. They also conduct what they call “Social Styles Workshops” working on the understanding of different behaviours and perception of behaviours.
  • Thrish from Simon’s Town Pharmacy complimented Dr. van der Merwe our local Simon’s Town medical practitioner. With him around and a well stocked Simon’s Town Pharmacy you don’t need to go anywhere else for your medical and pharmaceutical needs. Thrish has an ATM in-store for secure withdrawals. And she can help people with foreign currencies who want to purchase goods from her. Legally! Contact Simon’s Town Pharmacy at 0217862133.
  • Mr. Hoosen our local and trusted plumber. He’s been around from 1972. A great man with lots and lots of advice. Today he told us that he’s busy repairing/replacing stolen copper pipes. Some absent homeowners pay dearly for water leaks that goes undetected. Contact Mr. Hoosen for your plumbing needs 0826769442
  • Johan Horak helps businesses to understand the Internet and how to use it. He will create your free website and for only R2495 teaches you how to use it. No further monthly fees. Nothing. And you can use your website for as long as you want. Read more here.
  • Well have the South African President in Simon’s Town on 5 September. It’s a great day for Simon’s Town as the President will visit the Navy for the first and last time. But it’s also a time for us to hang the flags out. We have such a lot to disagree about. Let’s have fun on this day while watching the activities in the streets and on our lovely blue bay. Thrish suggested you phone |Arne at 082 807 8073 to get some flags for the day.

Dear Business Friends, we’ll meet again to share what you are do, compliment and recommend other business people in Simon’s Town. It will be great to see you all. I know it’s cold but that’s no excuse ;-) See you at The Sweetest Thing at 08h00 till 09h00. Bring a few bucks for coffee. Regards Johan 082 870 2004

Do you know Zimbabwean or Mozambique business people who lost a lot? See the bottom of this newsletter as you may be able to help set the record straight.

One of the topics we discussed today was viral marketing; this happens when people who like you, gossip about your business. The problem that you have is that people need to know, like and trust you before they can gossip about you.

And as Anita, from Creative Marketing, said, "You need to also exceed the expectations of people who do business with you". As an example: Anita started gossiping about the service she got from Toyota. This business did nothing else but gave her more than what she expected. She did not want to take her car for a service because it’s a hassle but when Toyota made her interaction a pleasure she started gossiping. Toyota got free publicity today.

This is what this Simon’s Town business to to business meeting is all about.

Here you can get free publicity by getting your fellow business people to gossip the good news about you. But you need to get these business people to know, like and trust you.

Do you give your fellow business people the opportunity to know, like and trust you?

These business people know more than 200 people each. And we can tap into that channel of referrals if we want to. Because I and you want to share with our 200 friends reliable and likable solutions to what they need.

It was great to have two new business people at the Simon’s Town meeting.

We were entertained by Yvette, from www.OceansEcho.co.za a luxury villa, and Audrey who runs a day spa called Divine Day Spa Soul Experience.

This is how Yvette describe her business:

Oceans Echo Luxury Villa is the perfect holiday destination, with the most spectacular and unforgettable mountain and sea views all year round. Luxury self catering accommodation in Fish Hoek, South Peninsula, Cape Town and only 2min away from Jagger walk which leads onto one of Cape Towns most beautiful swimming beaches.

www.OceanEcho.co.za also cater for small functions, conferences and family getaways. She is interested in meeting people who are involved in the tourism industry.

Day Spa:

Audrey is running a special at the moment where you and your partner can be pampered for two hours for only R300. You and your partner can have some fun while they look after you. You can choose from massages, pedicures, manicures and a sauna.  Take a break and support Audrey. You can contact Audrey at 021 781 0788.

Trish from Simon’s Town pharmacy continues to look after the people of Simon’s Town. Apparently the flu virus will not be friendly this year and she is running out of anti flu injections. If you have not taken your staff and yourself for the injection take them today. Contact Simon’s Town Pharmacy at 021 786 5767.

As I mentioned above, Anita is a local Simon’s Town resident that helps businesses to market their services and products. She also provides corporate training and assist small businesses with the customer relationship training. You can get hold of Anita from Creative Marketing at 082 467 0660.

I am looking for Zimbabweans and Mozambique business people and farmers who lost their business in these respective countries. If you know any please contact me as I may have an opportunity for them. Unfortunately their are many of these people and this giving back opportunity can only accommodate a few people. I know this is limited info but they can check it out with me. By The Way: This opportunity, that’s free, comes from a very successful business family who lost everything in Mozambique and then stayed in the old Rhodesia for years.

Have fun.

See you at the next Simon’s Town Business To Business Meeting on the 26 June 2008 08:00 at The Sweetest Thing.

Good. Or rather great! We had our first Simon’s Town business to business meeting at the Sweetest Thing. The stories were great and the coffee refreshing. Thank you to all who made this a great success.

Note: The Simon’s Town business to business meeting is every forth Wednesday of the month. The next meeting is therefore on the 23 April 2008, 07:45 at The Sweetest Thing.

I never realised that Dave the Simon’s Town Boat Company man also run Simon’s Town Rikki Taxis. They now have more Rikkis and have one running at night. You can even get an airport shuttle from Simon’s Town. And they deliver goods as well. Well done Dave. Phone: 021-786-2136; 073 387 4366 after hours.

Trish from Simon’s Town pharmacy told us about the three flu viruses and have all the injections available. She also has two nurses to attend to you and your staff. Simon’s Town Pharmacy telephone: 0217862133.

Mr Hoosen, from HOOSEN BROTHERS PLUMBING WORKS Simon’s Town tel (021) 786-3941, shared with us his experience and the attendees all vouched for this great Simon’s Town plumber.

Anita  from Creative Marketing shared her passion for marketing and training. She also helps small businesses in and around Simon’s Town; training there staff on how to treat customers. Her next training session will be with the staff at Simon’s Town pharmacy. (Well done Trish for investing in your staff to better service the Simon’s Town community).

It was interesting to meet the Redhill Pottery man, Bruce. He showed us his lovely handmade pottery with bright and warm African colours. We all decided to visit Bruce and join his leisure pottery making opportunity for family and friends. Contact Bruce 021 780 9297.

Shelly from Art in Framing is passionate about Simon’s Town and love every moment helping people selecting frames for their Simon’s Town homes. I never realized that framing can be an emotional business. This is because a frame is the cherry on the cake. The frame shows your commitment. You have the family photo or art piece and now you want to share it. This Simon’s Town framing business make it all worthwhile. Contact Eric and Shelly at 021 786 5952.

I also get an opportunity to tell my story about SimonsTownRealty.Info. As a Simon’s Town real estate agents we have a motto: “We will rather turn you down today than let you down tomorrow”. If you can accept our real estate advice then my wife and I will run circles to make your real estate business in Simon’s Town a pleasure. I invite you to join our free Simon’s Town News Letter.

By The Way: If you have anything to add please feel free to add your comments below.

This blog is for you and the more you tell us about your Simon’s Town business or services the more customers we can send you.

If you want to share a related business story about your own business or if you want to compliment another fellow Simon’s Town business person I urge you to send it to me for publication on this blog. Because we all depend on our friends sharing good news about us.

Have Fun

As you know we will have our b2b meeting on the 26 March 2008 at the Sweetest Thing (0217862133) at 08:00 till 09:00.

I have invited 12 Simon’s Town business people to come and share what they do with you. And you need to do the same.

Selfish promotion ;-).

Well close; we will try and educate our business friends on what we do so that they can share it with their friends.

We will not discuss baboons, inspectors, engineers, vagrants and other problems. There’s enough of that.

Note: Unfortunately the Sweetest Thing has limited space and we will only be able to accommodate these 12 people. (We need to consider if the venue will do at the meeting).

Bring your business cards and a tell us a short story on your business.

The Sweetest Thing will have coffee for us at R10.

See you there and have a great weekend.
